The Global Biodiversity Score (GBS) is used worldwide by companies, financial institutions, and public authorities to measure and manage their biodiversity footprint. To ensure quality and consistency, only trained and certified professionals – the GBS Assessors – are authorised to carry out official assessments.
How to become a GBS assessor?
- To qualify as a GBS Assessor, professionals must successfully complete the GBS Level 2 training program.
- This advanced training validates technical expertise in biodiversity footprinting, data use, and application of the GBS methodology.
- Once certified, assessors are recognised as trusted experts, capable of guiding organisations in measuring and steering their biodiversity strategies.

However, this requires active membership of the B4B+ Club. This ensures that all commercial applications of the GBS are carried out within a collaborative, transparent, and science-based framework.
Consultants must be both certified GBS Assessors and members of the Club to use the GBS commercially.
